Accessibility is the only API macOS provides for one app to move and resize another app's windows. Without it, Workflo can see your displays but can't put anything back. It's requested once, during onboarding, and you can revoke it any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

No. Layouts, scenes, and rules are stored as plain JSON in ~/Library/Application Support/Workflo/, and your window layouts never leave your Mac. There are no accounts. The app does reach the network in four places: to check for updates, to activate and re-check your licence key, to ask how much of the free trial is left, and to send anonymous usage analytics you can switch off in Settings. A desk is a display arrangement Workflo has seen before: the built-in screen alone, MacBook plus office monitor, the home setup with two externals. Each desk remembers its own layout, so undocking at work and docking at home both land you exactly where you left off on that desk. A few apps manage their own windows aggressively and fight external placement. For those, add a per-app rule: ignore the app entirely, or force "always restore size" if only its dimensions drift. Rules live in the Layouts window under Rules.

Tiling tools arrange windows into layouts you choose in the moment. Workflo works ahead of you instead: it stages the right apps before a meeting or focus block, and brings your layout back the moment your displays change. No keyboard grammar to learn: it prepares and restores, it doesn't tile.

A desk is automatic: the layout Workflo learns for a display setup. A scene is deliberate: a named arrangement you save on top of a desk ("Writing", "Review", "Monitoring") and switch to by hotkey or from the panel. A scene isn't only a window move: it can open the apps that aren't running, clear everything that isn't part of it, and change the wallpaper. Those are three switches on each scene, so you decide per scene how much it takes over.

Yes: Scene Studio lets you drag ghost boxes for apps that aren't open yet. When you apply the scene with "open missing apps" enabled, Workflo launches them and places them into their boxes.

Press ⌥⇧S and every window on the current desk is hidden; press it again and everything returns to exactly where it was. It's built for screen-shares, demos, and the occasional need for an empty desktop; nothing is minimized to the Dock or lost.

Yes, as an experimental feature in the direct download build. Turn on Move apps between Desktops under Settings → General → Experimental, then right-click an app in Scene Studio and pick its Desktop. All of that app's windows move together, and your displays flip through their Desktops for a few seconds while Workflo works.

Workflo uses Sparkle, the standard macOS update framework. It periodically checks an update feed, and every release is EdDSA-signed; the app verifies the signature before installing anything. You can also check manually from the menu bar panel or Settings → About.

Only if you create a calendar trigger, the feature that applies a scene when an event with a video link is about to start. If you never add one, Workflo never requests Calendar access.
